More Basic Magic Tips - It's All in the Act

Continuing with a series of tips provided by www.MagicDB.net

There are several factors to consider when you put together
your magic act. Here are some of the more important focal points:

a) Theme - you may need a theme like a holiday or birthday for your act. So look for tricks, props, decorations for your act that match up accordingly.

b) Character and Wardrobe - Choose something for your stage presence and make it flattering for you, easy to work in and something you can accessorize over time, adding a belt, scarf, etc. for other tricks. Nothing flashy, though, like bright gold necklaces and bracelets, as you'll want people to focus on your face.

c) You can find good props, costume pieces, theme materials and more for your act at local thrift stores, second hand stores, used clothing stores, craft stores and wholesale distribution centers. Also check out flea markets, outlets and yard sales. Don't forget the Internet, either. Search Amazon.com and Ebay for good deals and wholesale lots.

d) In your opening, strive to connect with the audience. Mention praise over the holiday or other special event for your being there, mention praise about the city hosting the event. People like to cheer and be happy, so bring them on into your act with praise and hand clapping, cheers and fun right away...it's contagious. And don't be afraid to toss out small candies at the beginning and throughout to sweeten up your audience. Everyone likes free treats and acts of kindness. So share!

And voila - there you have it!!! And there are still many more things to take into account with magic tricks...
So stay tuned for your next lesson where you'll learn more about illusions and beginning tricks...
